Depth of field is the 'distance between the nearest and furthest objects that give an image judged to be in focus in a camera'. Aperture is an opening hole or a gap. Depth of field means the level of focus from the closest to the furthest point. A smaller aperture gives less light and creates a deeper depth of field. This picture is middle depth of field because only the things in the back are in focus.
