My favorite project that I did this year was definitely my gradient self portrait. I feel like it was my most successful project as well. I had a lot of fun making it because I liked being in the art room and painting. It was a nice change from the computer lab. Also, I liked it because I am taking Art 1 next year so it was fun to start doing real art like painting.
I learned the most from the project about photographers. I chose Cecil Beaton as my photographer and I learned a lot not only about him but also about other photographers from people’s presentations and also a lot about photography in general.
From previous projects, I used a lot of what I learned to create the kaleidoscope and butterfly effect projects. I learned a lot from the beginning of the year and also I had background knowledge from art design and new media from freshman year. I enjoy using photoshop because you can be as creative as you want and make your own projects into anything you envision.
The project that reflected me the most as an artist was the gradient portrait as well. I feel like as an artist, I am comfortable taking pictures and equally as comfortable using paints and actually art supplies too. I really enjoyed the gradient project.
Some feedback I have for the course is to have check ins with artists to make sure they're getting the work done that they need to be getting done.
